THE BARBARIAN AS A CONSTRUCT. A HISTORIOGRAPHICAL REDISCUSSION ABOUT THE GERMANIC MIGRATIONS UNDER THE CONCEPTS OF CULTURE, CIVILIZATION AND BARBARISM.

From some recent discussions about the concepts of culture, civilization, barbarism, made by history and other social sciences related to it, and especially having in mind the social and spatiotemporal vicissitudes in which we face with the praxis of these concepts, we will undertake our own revisiting these concepts. For this approach, we will lean on a period and a privileged event, the Late Antiquity of “Germanic migrations” toward the Roman West.
